Rosemary Essential oil, Pure and Natural

Botanical Name: Rosemarinus officinalis

 

General description of Rosemary Essential Oil:
A shrubby evergreen aromatic bush up to 2 metres (6ft) high with silvery - green, needle-shaped leaves and pale blue flowers. The whole plant is strongly aromatic.

 

Extraction process of Rosemary Essential Oil:
Essential oil by steam distillation from the freshly picked flower tops or the whole plant.

 

Description of Rosemary Essential Oil:
A colourless or pale yellow mobile liquid with a strong, fresh, minty-herbaceous scent and a woody - balsamic undertone. Poor quality oils have a strong camphoraceous note. It blends well with olibanum, lavender, lavandin, citronella, oregano, thyme, pine, bergamot, basil, frankincense, juniper, verbena, Melissa, peppermint, labdanum, elemi, cedarwood, petitgrain, cinnamon, and other spice oils.

 

Main therapeutic properties of Rosemary Essential Oil:
Analgesic, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, astringent, carminative, digestive, diuretic, hepatic, hypertensor, rubefacient, stimulant, tonic.

 

Uses of Rosemary Essential Oil:
Skin care: Acne, dandruff, dermatitis, eczema, greasy hair, insect repellent, promotes hair growth, regulates seborrhea, scabies, stimulates scalp, lice, varicose veins. Circulation, muscles and joints: Arteriosclerosis, fluid retention, gout, muscular pain, palpitations, poor circulation, and rheumatism.
Respiratory system: Asthma, bronchitis, and whooping cough.
Digestive system: Colitis, dyspepsia, flatulence, hepatic disorders, hypercholesterolaemia, jaundice.
Genito - urinary: Dysmenorrhoea, leucorrhoea.
Immune system: Colds, 'flu, infections.
Nervous system: Debility, headaches, hypertension, neuralgia, mental fatigue, nervous exhaustion and stress - related disorders.
Extensively used in soaps, detergents, cosmetics, household sprays and perfumes, especially colognes. Also used as a masking agent. Extensively employed in most major food categories, especially meat products, as a well as alcoholic and soft drinks. Serves as a source of natural anti-oxidants.

 

Effects of Rosemary Essential Oil:
Rosemary is stimulating, purifying, and protecting. Rosemary is a psychic protector, a symbol of friendship and love and as a reminder of love and death; it was traditionally burned at weddings and funerals. It is associated with the third eye chakra, assisting clear thought and inner vision.

 

Safety warnings for Rosemary Essential Oil:
Non-toxic and relatively non-irritant, non-sensitizing. Avoid during the first three months of pregnancy, as it may be too stimulating. In very high concentrations and if used continuously over a long period of time, it may provoke convulsions in people who are prone to these. Not to be used by epileptics. Contraindicated in cases of high blood pressure.
