Mandarin Essential Oil, Pure and Natural

Botanical Name: Citrus reticulata


General description of Mandarin: 
A small evergreen tree up to 6 metres(20ft) high with glossy leaves, fragrant flowers and bearing fleshy fruit varying from yellow to orangey-red. The tangerine is larger than the mandarin and rounder, with a yellower skin, more like the original Chinese type.


Extraction process of Mandarin Essential Oil: 
Essential oil by cold expression from the outer peel of the nearly ripe fruit. A mandarin petit grain oil is also produced in small quantities by steam distillation from the leaves and  twigs.


Description of Mandarin Essential Oil: 
Mandarin oils a yellowy-orange mobile liquid with a blue-violet hint, having an intensely sweet, delicate, almond floral citrus scent. It blends well with other citrus oils, especially neroli, and spice oils such as nutmeg, cinnamon and clove. Tangerine oil is an orange mobile liquid with a fresh, sweet, orange like aroma. It has less body than mandarin and is little sued in perfumery work.


Main therapeutic properties of Mandarin Essential Oil:
Mandarin is generally preferred for aromatherapeutic purposes.
Antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, carminative, depurative, digestive, diuretic, sedative, tonic. 


Uses of Mandarin Essential Oil: 
Skin care: Acne, blemishes, congested and oily skin, scars, spots, stretch marks, toner.
Circulation,muscles and joints: Fluid retention, obesity.
Digestive system: Digestive problems, dyspepsia, hiccoughs, intestinal problems.
Nervous system: Insomnia, nervous tension, restlessness.

It is often used for children and pregnant women and is recommended in synergistic combinations with other citrus oils. Mandarin oil is used in soaps, cosmetics and perfumes, especially colognes. it is employed as a flavouring agent especially in sweets, soft drinks and liqueurs.


Effects of Mandarin Essential Oil:
Mandarin has a tonic effect on the digestion, and is good for all digestive upsets. It makes a pleasant addition to massage blends and mood perfumes, bringing a light, gentle, calming note. Mandarin is strengthening and has a slight hypnotic quality, helping to switch off an over-active mind and promoting restful sleep. It has a soft, delicate quality that helps people to connect with their inner child. 


Safety warnings for Mandarin Essential Oil: 
Non-toxic, non-irritant, non - sensitising. Possibly photo toxic, although it has not been demonstrated decisively.
